Melodic Rock

Melodic rock, is a genre of music were today’s classic rock evolved from and is closely associated with glam rock and pop rock. It is somewhat the fusion of the blues and hard/metal rock.

The origins of this genre can be traced back to 1960’s and in the amids of the Beatles blast all over the world. However, it was in the mid 1970’s that melodic rock was on the top of it’s glory with the help of some superbands like Toto and Boston but eventually after a decade of imperial reign over the charts, melodic rock was down on its knees in the late 1980’s after the boom of the more darker and heavier rock genre.

Melodic rock is somehow also known as AOR (Abum Oriented Radio or Adult Oriented Rock) mostly because of the radios programming scheme on that era where the DJ’s were given more freedom to play progressive songs of all genres, but since only melodic rock was the sole survivor among the other genres on that time, the AOR was tagged to it.

This genre may have died on the late 80’s but the followers are still surviving, so to all the fans of melodic rock genre this is for you to reminisce.
